Boosting Fertility

Healing Vibes

Boosting fertility can be done in numerous ways.  From diet to therapies, bringing overall balance to health brings an increased chance of becoming pregnant.  Of course many factors can influence fertility, like genetics and lifestyle.  But, there are external practices we can do ourselves to boost fertility.   Here are some proven ways I have seen work for patients in my practice.

  1. Acupuncture Treatments

    • Acupuncture increases blood flow to the reproductive areas, which is very important for fertility. These treatments can also help manage stress, which can cause infertility and other imbalances within our bodies. It has been shown in studies that the rate of pregnancy is higher in patients who get Acupuncture, compared to patients without Acupuncture. These results are also similar in patients undergoing IVF. Your hormones can become balanced through Acupuncture treatments.

  2. Diet Changes

    • Avocados! A really cool study that came out recently found that women who were undergoing IVF & also eating 1 avocado per day, were 3 times more likely to become pregnant than women not eating avocados. That is amazing! On another note, eliminating inflammatory foods from the diet will also help with fertility. Some examples of inflammatory foods are gluten, processed foods (sugars), and dairy. It's best to increase foods that will fight inflammation; like leafy vegetables, nuts, and fruits.

  3. Exercise

    • It is important to find the correct amount of physical exercise. Exercising too much or not enough can be a culprit for infertility. I usually recommend a moderate work-out 2-3 X per week. I think sticking to a regular schedule is important. This way, you can continue the work-out schedule during pregnancy if you are feeling good.

  4. Sleep

    • Fertility hormones are strongly related to sleep patterns. If women are not getting enough sleep, their menstrual cycle could be affected. This can affect ovulation times. It's important to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night, sleeping similar hours each night. Acupuncture can help manage sleep, too.
